SHOPPING
THE FRIDAY MARKET
Every Friday is the popular outdoor market in the centre of town (running along the beach and it's surrounding streets).
Many visitors from France travel across the border for lower prices in Italy and on cruise ship port days it is even busier!
During Summer it is advisable to get there early as it does get very busy with crowds and the sun is is exceptionally hot. Parking is a major problem on Friday's so you may need to park somewhere else in town and walk to the market or get the train if you're not already staying in Ventimiglia.
You can buy everything from linen, underwear, bags, toys, kitchen supplies, homewares, clothing, electronics as well as food items. The stall owners are all very friendly and many often change areas (if you're buying clothes).
Do remember to ask for a receipt and be especially careful with buying any fake bags etc as the police are ever present.
During Summer the market is sometimes open on special days also, like the odd Saturday or Sunday so if you arrive in summer ask the locals if the market is opening on any other days.
Many of the same stallholders are also available at the Sanremo market on Saturday's and Wednesdays (not as big as the Ventimiglia market)
It is open till around 5pm.
THE INDOOR MARKET
Right in the centre of town and where the locals shop is the Ventimiglia indoor market. Known for it's fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, other deli items and fresh flowers it is a great place to shop if you're in Ventimiglia for a few days.
It is open from 6am till 1pm on weekdays, almost all day on Fridays and some stall holders open on Saturday's also.

OTHER SHOPS
Ventimiglia has plenty of other shops including high fashion and budget fashion, Chinese discount clothing and shoes, High end and budget shoe shops, Quite a few pharmacy's, Jewellery, Perfume shops, CD's, Model Cars, linen, pretty much your standard local town!
It is worth noting that during summer there are often "Saldi" or "Special Sale" nights where the streets will be closed off, the shops will be open till late and have special sales on and there is music, dancing and other activities happening in the streets. The only way of knowing when these will be on will be by asking the locals or some shops may have a poster in their window. It's a lot of fun!
