VENTIMIGLIA ITALY

Ventimiglia is quite simply paradise. One of Italy's best kept secrets located 130km (81 mi) southwest of Genoa by rail and 7km (4 mi) from the French-Italian border.

With a population of 55,000, Ventimiglia is a popular summer destination for tourists on the French Riviera and very popular all year round with visitors from France for the weekly Friday street market along the seafront of the new town.

With accommodation much lower than nearby Menton, Nice and areas towards Monaco, Ventimiglia is a great base in which to explore the Riviera, with fantastic train access across Italy and France, loads of places to eat, decent shopping and plenty happening throughout the year.

A family friendly town, Ventimiglia is a great place to swim and enjoy the beaches, eat, shop, explore parts of the Riviera, stay during Grand Prix season in Monte Carlo, and a great train system for onward travel in Italy and France.
